It sure feels like spring, and Saturday's Pansy-Violet Luncheon at the Woodstock Club was a great way to celebrate the season -- and the sisterhood!
It's been a longtime tradition with the Indy Alumnae Chapter to combine an alumnae event with a Tri Psi event. Back when we didn't have seniors to honor, it just made sense. And now, it's just that much more fun.
So here we were, in this great high-ceilinged room with sunshine and breezes...what a beautiful day! The menu was straight out of springtime, too, with fresh fruit and chicken salad and some fabulous raspberry dessert... And the conversation! Wow! I don't know about your table, but we had a great time!
One very interesting subject that we came upon during the lunch was old Tri Delta rules...
At Franklin, when I was there, the rule was "Tri Deltas don't drink out of bottles," which meant that if a Tri Delta was going to drink something that came in a bottle, she would have to pour it into a cup.
At IU, Michelle Kahlo reported, it was "being in motion while smoking" -- because "that's what streetwalkers do". ("Now you can't even be
seen smoking!" Valerie Knoll laughed. Shows how times change, huh?)
Did you have any rules in your chapter that seem outdated or unnecessary now?
Email me, and we might do a whole blog -- or maybe even a column in the newsletter -- about them!
